The Propane Advantage

If you’re thinking about signing up with a propane delivery service, you may be surprised to find out just how economical propane is. The following is a list of just some of the ways propane can reduce your energy costs.

  • Home heating. Not only is there propane furnaces available with an Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE) of 95 percent or higher, the units also produce air up to 25 degrees warmer than air heated with electric heat pumps.
  • Water heating.Water heating accounts for almost a quarter of your home’s energy costs. Propane water heaters heat water at less than half the cost of electric water heaters while tankless water heating costs up to 60 percent less.
  • Radiant heat. Radiant heat systems can be much more energy efficient than traditional duct and furnace systems because they deliver more heat that is also closer to the floor. When radiant heating is liquid-based, propane heats the water much more efficiently than an electric heater does.
  • What is your current gas boiler’s efficiency? Chances are, it’s not the 90 percent rating that new propane boilers enjoy. Even better, propane boilers don’t need maintenance as frequently as fuel oil boilers.
  • Drying clothes. Propane dryers cost up to 50 percent less to operate than many electric models.
  • Propane fireplaces have many advantages over wood or electric fireplaces. High-efficiency direct-vent propane fireplaces generally have up to six times the heating capacity of electric models. Propane fireplaces can also burn up to 40 times longer than a wood fireplace, plus there’s no ash or soot to deal with.

In addition to providing deep savings, propane is also environmentally friendly and is considered one of the cleanest burning of all fossil fuels. With propane, you can rest assured you’re helping save the planet and energy costs.
